Relationship between building ant site
Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center located between sagebrush meadow and a riparian forest along the Snake RiverBecause of the site are surrounded by Mountains so the architect created plan of this building as a repetition of the typography. The serrated U-shaped plan consists of numbers of program inside; Central Exhitbition hall is the middle with 2 wings that points back towards the Snake river. One wing is the Gallery and classroom while the another functions as bookstores and offices.
Outdoor as Heart of the building
The Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center is the building which programmed the outdoor space as "Heart of the building". Relationship to the context and the outdoor space goes coherently when this outdoor space drawn visitors to courtyard in the middle which calm and intimate place in the Wyoming landscape.
Bring outside in
To appreciate context from the center of the visitor center Instead of bringing the inside out but the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center bring the outside in instead. When South-faced bring the massive natural to the central court ,the glass wall acts as the screen and the massive roof tilted away form the heart of the building to celebrate the peaks of the Teton Range beyond. The visitors are suggested the outdoor while they are still indoor and this technique blend the aesthetic of the outdoor terrain into calm and intimate courtyard in the middle smoothly.
Craig Thomas and Bang Gra Jao
These two buildings share the same attitude of preservation. Even Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center has drawn the visitors inside but the main purpose of this attraction still give the priority to outdoor area which is to appreciate and celebrate the peaks of the Teton Range. This become an interpretation of the preserving idea which is similar to Bang Gra jao that acts as Lung of the Bangkok which is a preserved area in Bangkok. The preservation area sited as peninsula in Chao Praya, the main river of Bangkok for the water transportation. Because of Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center and Bang Gra Jao area are considered as preservation area, context of the site becomes more important. Peak of the Teton Range was celebrated by the tilted roof of the visitor center while the forests in Bang Gra Jao becomes landmark of the site and still remains as green area of the Bangkok even this area was proposed to be the industrial district in previous time.
